stretch mark

stretch marks are also known as striae, this a form of scaring on the skin. stretch marks may be diminish but not removed.
stretch marks commonly occur on the breast, thigh,lower back,buttocks,arm etc.they might be as a result of pregnancy, bodybuilding, puberty, hormonal replacement therapy, weightlifting, obesity, medical conditions.







stretch marks are form in the dermis layer of the skin when the connective tissues is stretch beyond the limits of its elasticity due to rapid expansion or contraction of the skin due to sudden growth or weight gain.
stretch marks affect both sex but is more common in females than in males.
the color of the stretch marks is due to blood vessel passing the dermis initially before the tear

Facts about stretch marks:
  • the prevalence of stretch marks ranges from 40-90% depending on race age and sex
  • about 70% of girls develop stretch marks during puberty.
  • both sexes are attached by stretch marks.
  • about 40% of boys develop stretch mark during puberty
  • coca butter is not effective in preventing stretch marks
  •  stretch marks are common in  younger women
  • laser therapy has proven effective for treatment of stretch marks
  • common areas affected by stretch marks are abdomen, breasts, hips, flank, buttocks, thighs 
stretch marks are linear smooth band  on the skin  depending on the skin type, they can be red, purple, pale sliver  and the color might fade.

stretch marks begin to appear on the skin thin  one may feel irritated and itchy. it can also  develop as wrinkly, raised streaks , streaks might fade, flatten, and become less noticeable and this might take years .

Treatment  and prevention of stretch marks
creams, gels, lotions, laser and cosmetic surgery has been used.

one study evaluated the use of anti stretch mark cream containing hydroxyprolisilane-c, rosehip oil, centella asiatica triterpenes and vitamin E  have proved to be effective in the reducing of severity of pregnancy stretch marks and halting the progression of those already present and preventing new ones from appearing

in a study coco butter did not appear to reduce the likelihood of developing stretch marks during pregnancy
massage of bitter almond oil  for 15minutes has proved to be effective in reducing the pregnancy stretch marks in early pregnancy
products containing RENTONICACID should not be used in pregnant women has it can use cognitive defects to the baby and should not be used in nursing mothers
laser therapies and microdermabrasion  are effective  method of treatment.
